I just came across your wonderful “Walking Tour of Albany Park’s Corner Buildings”.
I have just completed my memoir and there are items in it of fond memories of my youth in Albany Park in the 1938-1947 time frame. I’m including the URL for my memoir and I think it will fill in some of the material you addressed in your walking tour.
I invite you to go to pages 74t through 89 and use any of my material as you wish.
I made one major error in my memoir.
I located the Buffalo Ice cream parlor at the Lawrence-Pulaski intersection. It was at the Irving Park-Pulaski intersection.
Also, perhaps my mention of the White Castle as being across Kimball from the El station is incorrect; your piece tells me that it might have been Cooper and Cooper. Time does diminish one’s memory!
Here is the url to access my memoir on the cloud.
